Christmas is looming and like every year Budapest is getting ready for the season! It’s not only the snow that normally makes Budapest a great place to be in Christmas. It’s also the atmosphere one feels from the delightfully decorated streets (literally like few other cities) and of course the carols that can be heard in Christmas markets set up for the festive season.

Vorosmarty Christmas Budapest Market

This year, from the 18th of November all the way to New Year's Eve in the central Vörösmarty Square, one can find over 100 wooden pavilions offering candles, decorations and special handcrafted items on sale. This will be the time to enjoy ample mulled wine, sausages, kürtoskalács (sweet Hungarian pastries), kenyérlángos (flat bread baked in a cob oven), roast chestnuts and other delicacies. Choirs, children performances, folklore and dance groups shows with orchestras and brass bands will be there under the big Christmas tree in the square to give you that special season feeling!

Stop thinking about it and grab your coat! With the big Malév offers and small prices, a weekend away to Budapest starts from only €220 including 2 nights hotel accommodation!

India’s Kingfisher Airlines set to join oneworld alliance

India’s leading domestic carrier and only five-star airline, Kingfisher Airlines, is lining up to join oneworld after signing a memorandum of understanding as its first step towards full membership of the world’s leading quality airline alliance, subject to Indian regulatory approval.

Malév traffic increased 6% last year despite a difficult 12 months for the industry

Malév performed better than the European average in 2009, a year that saw a downturn in the air transport industry as a whole. In the face of the European trend, the Hungarian national carrier was actually able to increase the number of its passengers. The airline carried a total of 3.3 million scheduled and charter travellers, 6% more than in the previous year (indicator omits long-haul passengers). This enabled the airline to up its market share by two percentage points to 43,5%.

Malév registers sharp upturn in number of customers

Malév has made a dynamic start to the autumn. In September the airline upped the number of its passengers by 13% against the identical period for 2008 and achieved a load factor of 80%, which is similarly higher than the previous year. Malév is now increasing more dynamically its passenger number than any other airline in Europe according to the latest European airline’s statistics.

Mexicana Airlines to join oneworld Alliance in November

Mexico and Central America's airline Mexicana, will become part of the oneworld alliance. From November 10, Mexicana will officially start offering oneworld's full range of services and benefits with its subsidiaries MexicanaClick and MexicanaLink to join oneworld as affiliate members at the same time.

Malév reports a good summer with strong passenger growth

Malév reports a good summer with strong passenger growth

Malév reached 12% passenger growth and 84% record seat load factor in August

This summer generated more passengers for Malév. The Hungarian national carrier is one of very few European network airlines that recorded success in its summer passenger traffic. During the summer months more customers travelled on the airline’s European network than in the same period of 2008. This figure topped 12% in the month of August alone.
